Dale Lowe Signs Summer Series Murphy Street Crits Ocotber 10 2019

The first of this season's Dale Lowe Signs Summer Series attracted 31 riders including three try riders and a number of new members The field was split into four grades for crits around the Brickworks Industrial Estate circuit. Conditions were windy and fading daylight forced the last two races to be cut short.The A grade field was all quality, bolstered by new member Darren Lapthorne, and the fast pace saw a few go out the back. In the end Martin Banfield prevailed over Peter Cavallaro and Brent Gibson in a lightning fast sprint. B Grade had the largest field and also lost a few on the way around. The last lap saw the field strung out before new member Shaun White scored a comfortable victory in his first race with the Vets, finishing well clear of Gavin Hill and Ian Stringer. C Grade saw a number of attacks before Stuart Laing, try rider Bruce Isaac and Cheryle Barker jumped clear and stayed away. Stuart won the sprint from Bruce who was unable to claim, followed a little way back by Cheryle in second with Gino Abbisogni leading the rest home for third. The small D Grade field split into two early on and try rider Kelvin Niblett beat Amy Holmes in the two-up sprint, which left Amy the winner. Karyn Mackenzie finished second and Aileen O'Brien third.

Woodstock 7 July

There were more people at the Club's AGM at Woodstock today after the race than there were in the race, which says a lot about (a) how cold and windy it was out there; and (b) what great support the Club gets from its members.

Woodstock 30 June

Arctic conditions this arvo at Woodstock for a 47 km handicap with just a very occasional glimpse of the sun and a relatively light wind to ease the pain.
