A strong field of 105 riders arrived at the starting line for today’s 65km Precision Formwork - O’Brien Contracting open handicap.
Calm warm conditions made the race difficult for the scratch to make any ground on the strong front groups. The 17min group proved to be to strong rounding up the 20min, 24min, 26min, 31min and 40min groups by Newbridge with 15kms to go.
The only group with a chance to bridge the gap was the 13min group however they failed by 13 secs. The day’s winner was Daryl Suter off 17mins from Geelong, 2nd was James Knipe off 17mins from Eureka, 3rd Brad Steigenberger off 20mins Central Vic, 4th Terry Hodges Northern, 5th James Gretton Eureka, 6th Mark O’Callaghan Eureka, 7th Shane Thompson Central Vic, 8th George Goodrope Northern, 9th Noel Said Northern, 10th Gino Abbisogni Central Vic. Thank you to the VVCC and Central Vic members for putting on a great days racing.
