Well, we hardly had time to get over the raw excitement of the Dale Lowe Signs Summer Series before we were straight back into it with the first of the Cantina Bendigo twilight series of graded scratch races at Emu Creek this evening, courtesy of Peter Cavallaro.
Peter unfortunately got tangled up in the first ride as a Vet at Emu Creek for recently signed-up Peta Mullens who duly won A Grade after a lead-out (strange, that) by Jarrod Moroni who ran second, with Peter recovering some of his sponsorship by running third. B Grade was the biggest field of the night and evenly matched. Some (very) brief forays off the front by Richard Mcintosh and Paul Dynon didn't amount to a hill of beans, ditto for a last ditch launch by Michael Anderson with a kilometer to go. Paul Dalton capped off a strong ride by winning the bunch sprint from Paul Dynon and Gavin Hill. Rob Gibson continued his steady improvement in form by winning C Grade from Steve Baine and Andrew Berry, while the highlight of D Grade was Carl Louchard's impressive breakaway a long way out being brought to a screaming halt by cramp, then recovering enough after being run down to win from Garry Leech and Pam Robertson.
